Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Fighters Group

Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a diverse cast of personalities, and a thrilling plot including celestial beings, fiends, and sinister influences growing in influence within the urban setting.

Note: Revealing details for the third episode of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Warrior Group Unveiled

The third episode finished on a dramatic pause and introduced the premier party of characters who will separate from the primary party to begin their own adventure, separate from the remaining groups.

The combat-focused team consists of the determined fighter (played by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).

Why Split the Party?

With an extensive roster, it was obvious from the outset that maintaining everyone at one table would be impossible.

Hence, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, weaving together the personal journeys before dividing into three separate parties: Warriors, Strategists, and Questers.

Characteristics of the Soldiers Table

As described by the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for participants who are drawn to a typically action-packed fight-heavy gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are rare.

Upon first impression, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might look out of place, but the actions of the latest installment make it clear why these specific adventurers are best suited for the Soldiers table.

Reasons to Leave

For one thing, the party understands precisely where to head next after a violent opening clash with the antagonists.

Casimir of the deceased character—whose passing started the narrative’s action—exploited the enemy for his selfish purposes, invading Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the rogue, and stealing all the magical artifacts to auction.

Casimir then settled his liabilities and escaped to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.

Individual Reasons

Moreover, each adventurer has a personal reason to depart Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, desires vengeance.
  • The adventurer is familiar with the region and cautions that it is a dangerous environment.
  • The strong character and The healer, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to eliminate Teor and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
  • But, their position as important members in House Halovar could help the team enter areas they normally couldn’t.
  • Furthermore, The fighter swore a eternal obligation to The savior for his rescue and will now follow him anywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

In addition, all of them are sought by the powers that govern the setting for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally too risky:

  • The agile adventurer and The hero are known criminals.
  • The warrior and The healer defied House Halovar and the legion of demons they are allied with.
  • The target is marked for death by the family.

This leaves them little choice but to travel to Timmony in pursuit of the traitor.

Future Episodes

From the recent installment’s follow-up content, we discover that the Soldiers table won’t be around the following episode, leaving the remaining eight participants to assemble the Questers and Schemers groups.

Audiences can look forward to learning which players will be where in the story’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on October 24.
